She completed her undergraduate education in the Department of Psychology at Ankara University, her master's degree in Community and Social Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell), and her doctoral studies in Social Psychology at the University of Sussex. In 2021, she had the opportunity to work as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of St Andrews. Currently, she continues teaching in various departments and conducting research at Karabük University.
Her research focuses on understanding and explaining strategies of solidarity among individuals and groups from a community- and public-based perspective. Specifically, she study how people share a social identity in disaster contexts and the stages communities go through to overcome the impacts of disasters. She is particularly specialized in data collection within an ethnographic framework, such as participatory observation. Following the earthquake on February 6, 2023, she volunteered on the ground with various civil society organizations and supported field volunteers under the Turkish Psychological Association by conducting weekly orientation meetings.
